“My Love can’t be purchased,
…Best gifts have been well-thought-out surprises…
– Nina Dobrev (Bulgarian- Canadian Actress and Model)
Colourpop doesn’t leave any stone unturned to surprise me either. The Colourpop Holiday Edition 2016, not only came as a surprise in time, but also in material and quality. The Colourpop Holiday edition 2016 came in slightly early (in November) than the anticipated Christmas. Instantly it caught to fame due to the bold change in its appearance, design and packaging of all the products it released. Nevertheless, anybody who is an ardent Colourpop fanatic would splurge to buy all of them to capture everything that is limited edition. So did I. However, I couldn’t buy all of them. Above all, most of them were out of stock already.
Let me give you a glimpse of what was released. Colourpop released the Holiday Edition 2016 under the theme ‘Now Playing”. Indeed a very classy theme for the holiday season and very classy product packaging and design line. The line includes two highlighters, four eyeshadows and nine single lip products. The fascinating part of this collection is that 3 of the holiday sets comprising of eyeshadow set (Never not chillin), glossy lip set (Kiss and Tell) and lippie stix set (to and from) come in a record shaped packaging. These sold out sooner than they were released.
The bold change in the design was that the lipsticks (Ultra matte, Ultra Satin and Ultra Glossy) came in black top cover with frosted transparent body packaging that look exceptionally different and classy. The eyeshadows and highlighters also came in black packaging unlike their original counterparts that are in white. All the external packaging was also different than the usual one’s.
I picked up three Lipsticks (two Ultra Satin Lips and one Ultra Matte) and one Highlighter. The lipsticks ($6) and Highlighter ($8), I purchased are as follows:
Wink (Ultra Satin Lipstick) – Wink is a pretty Ultra Satin Liquid Lipstick. The colour is described as a deep pinky plum. It is true to its name and completely flatters my skin tone.
Bijou (Ultra Satin Lipstick) – Another Ultra Satin Liquid Lipstick, Bijou is described by Colourpop as a cool toned rose and I am in love with this shade. On my skin tone it looks a little purple. But I am obsessed by this shade.
Wild Nothing (Ultra Matte Lipstick) – I ordered this collection predominantly for this Ultra Matte Liquid Lipstick in Wild Nothing. The colour is a dusty plum brown and is so beautiful that I totally recommend this shade to everyone.
Strapped – The Highlighter I bought is a pearlised highlighter called Strapped. Colourpop describes this highlighter as a soft cool toned pink with silver flip. On my skin tone (MAC NC44.5) it is a beautiful light pink shimmer shade.
The other Liquid lipsticks in this collection are Knotty (Ultra Matte Lip in light warm taupe), Perky (Ultra Matte Lip in warm toned muted rose), Embellish (Ultra Matte Lip in deepened black brown), Nonsense (Ultra Glossy Lip in lavender and pink duo chrome in a silver sheer finish), Furry (Ultra Glossy Lip on rich burgundy in metallic finish), Kink (Ultra Glossy Lip in pink and violet duo chrome in a sheer finish).
Tip: use a lip scrub to scrub your lips and then apply these lippies to avoid extreme drying.
My Skin type: Dry to combination
Foundation: MAC NC 44.5
